She acts for a range of clients including insurers, prosecuting authorities, Government entities and individuals in a range of litigation across the criminal and civil spheres.

Prior to working at Makinson d’Apice Lawyers, Jessica worked as a solicitor at the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and at the Crown Solicitor’s Office in their Public Interest & Justice team. Jessica regularly appears as an advocate in the Local and District Courts of New South Wales in both the civil and criminal jurisdictions, and has significant experience instructing counsel in complex litigation in the District, Supreme and appellate courts of New South Wales.

• Intentional torts spanning false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, assault / battery, misfeasance in public office and trespass to land and goods
• Defence of negligence and personal injury claims, including claims under the Compensation to Relatives Act
• Prosecuting appeals and hearings for offences under the NSW Road Transport legislation, and associated applications, in the Local and District Courts
• Conduct of legal professional privilege claims over seized material
• Defence of clients being prosecuted under the Crimes Act 1900 and the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW) in the Local and District Courts, and the Court of Criminal Appeal
• Defence of clients the subject of proceedings under the Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007 (NSW)
